REVIEW: Future Disciple - Adventure to the South incl. Robert Nickson Remix out on Pure Trance

Future Disciple aka Daniel James is one strange fish. Based in the Aussie wilderness but hailing from the UK, Dan’s musical genius is well known in the scene, but his musical output is sporadic – and that’s being generous. Every so often, though, a little gem of brilliance emerges from his studio and for that we need be thankful – and what a bloody gem ‘Adventure to the South’ is. Melodically it’s cinematic and ambitious; production-wise it’s chunky and perfectly executed in the trademark FD style. Ramping up the BPM the Robert Nickson Remix has been a fixture in Solarstone’s sets & a long sought ID for well over 6 months at the time of writing, and is an example of a perfect remix; one that remains faithful to the Original’s musical statement whilst firmly planting the remixer’s production stamp on the personality of the track. Glorious.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]It's one of those brilliant cases that both original and remix are equally exciting and absolutely essential for different purposes each of them of course. Firstly the original mix is a magnificent slice of progressive perfection that has a nice story to narrate through wonderful sounds and manages to unlock our imagination and let it run free. It has definitely cinematic edge and attempts beautifully to combine the tribalish drums with rolling basslines and excellent piano chords and huge epic synthy layers that manage to uplift you and invite you to a higher place. His main long breakdown is dark, moody, emotional in a way that leads beautifully to the euphoric climax. The second breakdown is touching and emotional while the outro part is darker and aggressive too. Robert is synonymous of high class productions and his remix is simply breathtaking. Pulsating driving basslines, old school trance beats and fantastic sense of travelling without moving. The journey reaches the break with the piano becoming the main focus along with other cinematic sounds followed by cool synthy plucks that are sensitive and very arousing at the same time. Epic strings and quality melody take us nicely and effortlessly in the climax that invite us to let the inhibitions go and experience the promised adventure that Future Disciple paints in his sonic painting. #PureGold Love IT [/content]
